Pocket Letter With a Twist

Hey Everyone!  Today I have for you new twist on a Pocket Letter.
What is a pocket letter? Well, it is a way to send a letter or note
to a friend or penpal.  You would use a 9 pocket sleeve protector, like
the ones used for baseball cards, and fill with papers, embellishments
or whatever you could fit into or on the sleeves.

Well, I wanted something smaller that those big sleeves, and I also
wanted something fun to explore when you open.

This is my Pocket Letter with a Twist.

I will take you through how I made it and will even give you the
measurements I used so you too can make a Twisted PL.

I started with the Sherri Baldy My Besties SteamPunk PL
You can find it HERE

I printed to sheets as I made a few of the pages 3D by raising up
areas I cut out of the second sheet and to make the front match
when closed up with the glasses showing on the half panel.

Lets have a look on the inside.

I turned the left side into a pocket to tuck in a note or a few tags
to write on.

I have made the inside into a accordion panel
to hold the printable pages.

I also made a shaker pocket that I added some gears and sequins.
The gears I purchased in the jewelry section of my local craft store, Michaels.

I placed the printable down first and then made a shaker to match the size
and took the second printable to match and cut the lace top and bottom out
and used foam to place over the same design underneath to look
like it is tucked into the paper.

Here you see where I also cut out the steam cat and lace and mounted
with the foam to make it 3D.

Lets get to how and measurements.

The top paper is the inside accordion.  You want a piece of cadrstock
3 5/8" x 8 1/2" and score at 2 5/8", 2 3/4", 5 3/8" and 5 1/2".
 Fold like a accordion
The gusset of 1/8" allows for you to embellish the inside pages.

You could add more panels by adding another 1/8" gusset and another 2 5/8"
for each additional panel you want to add.  If so, just check the height
when closed and make your gussets on the outside cover bigger.

For the cover you will need a piece of cardstock 4" x 9 1/2" and score
at 3",  3 1/4", 6 1/4" and 6 1/2".  You want the 1/4" gussets
to allow for the pages inside to sit nicely when closed.

I just cut the flap that will be the front on the diagonal just
for something different.  You could leave it whole, trim the edge
with a punch of border die cut also.

Here it is cut out and not decorated yet.

No decorate to your liking and have fun with it.

Don't forget the back.  Add some paper and embellish if you like as well.

For my closure, I just used ribbon and make sure to place it
down before adding your papers if you use this method.
I added the ribbon to the back coming around to the left and
on the half panel coming out towards the right and just tie
it on the side.

I hope you have enjoyed todays small make and would love
to see your creations.
